A Pair of Arrests in the Aftermath of London Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident resulted in the partial shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to police.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their luggage upon exiting a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was one of the those hurt during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and were later released.

Officers detained a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several people hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
